In the coming weeks, you can expect to see a lot of activity around our campus as we begin construction on the new building. Last week, we shut off utilities to the construction area, salvaged items from the old building, received the construction trailer, and fenced off the construction site. It has been a busy week! Today, demolition will begin, and we will see the old building come down over the next several weeks.

During the week of June 8, the Thrivent Financial approved our construction contract. We worked this past week to execute the final contract documents and complete all remaining deliverables for loan underwriting.

The Building Committee continues work to start the closing process with our construction lender, Thrivent Financial. The team has been diligent in developing a construction contract that will be acceptable to the church, the contractor, and our lender.

Our church is preparing for the next phase of construction on our campus. This project includes a new two-story administrative building, a fully renovated fellowship hall, new restrooms, a new kitchen, and refreshed patio spaces to foster connection, hospitality, and service.

On behalf of the Building Committee, I am excited to share an update on Phase 2 of the building project. We anticipate breaking ground sometime in October or November 2025. However, the project has encountered delays due to permitting issues with the City of San Diego, requiring modifications to our driveway and other improvements to the right-of-way, delaying our permit by approximately eight weeks. Four weeks are needed for civil engineering work, and another four weeks for the city's permitting process.
